Doug Wright said he would be "sitting in" for the next several weeks on Inside Sources and said he'd announce what would be happening in that time slot as time went on. I was enjoying the rotating hosts they were having on Inside Sources but figured that couldn't last forever. Does anyone have any "inside sources" (pun intended) as to what KSL plans to do with the 12:30 to 3 weekday afternoon time slot? If not, would anyone care to speculate or make suggestions as to what they should do with it?

one possible option, though isn't live and local, would be to have some different podcasts on during that time, or maybe a show from the other side of the political isle, just spitballing here obviously, nothing jumps out as super obvious to me at the moment.

what i'd like to see-
LOCAL news : 12-1 political talk & national/local news : 1-2 afternoon news : 2-6 Sports & humor (like Nightside to attract the younger demo) : 6-10

Sorry Dale but there is zero chance of KSL going back to a full service station. Even forgetting that you could probably count the number of US stations doing that on one hand, Bonneville already has two music stations covering AC and Classic Hits. There's also Classical and some Church music through BYU. I'm not sure what format would be a good fit for Bonneville considering their conservative leanings. I was surprised years back when they first bought 102.7 that they didn't axe the Star format right away.
levoix's idea of trying to appeal to younger demos is interesting. I'm not sure there's enough there in evenings to chase. The 7-10PM time is TV's primetime, both traditional linear TV and on-demand streaming (Netflix, etc.) Do you think younger demos would really trade video for radio? I tend to think not. Talk radio in general skews well into the older demos to begin with.
Getting back to the original subject, maybe something like a light talk show during the lunch hour might work. Humorous stories, fluff, that sort of thing. It could make for a nice decompression from your morning at work and/or the heavier Dave and Dujanovic show.

Bonneville has tons of tapes lying around somewhere of their beautiful music. Um, never mind. "Bonneville, which had acquired the SRP and Century catalogs in the 1980s, sold its beautiful music assets to Broadcast Programming in November 1993." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beautiful_music

So does this mean Boyd Matheson has left KSL? His program is still listed on the schedule for KSL radio, so I'd be interested to know what's up.

Why do we need 4 hours of news if it isn't an all news station? isn't the recycled 90 minutes or so with the mostly predictable traffic updates sufficient? That said, i do like the idea of news ending early, and the 12-1 news hour, 1-3 some sort of show, but i like CA's idea of a sort of stress reliever lighter show. i think 3 hours of afternoon news does the job is all i'm saying.

Well, we only have one week now till we find out. KSL was running little teaser announcements during Tim and Amanda this morning saying that three announcements will be made regarding KSL's lineup on Monday November 4th. I'm paraphrasing but it was something like "Who will be taking over at 12:30 after Utah's noon news? Who will be hosting early afternoons? And what's going on in the mornings on KSL." It's a bit of a puzzlement to me that they're making tree announcements. It was Jeff Caplan's and Maria Shalaos's voices on those teasers. I wonder if Tim and Amanda or Dave and Dujanovic are going to be changing since those teasers mentioned mornings. They didn't mention times to tune in, thus far. It just said Monday, November 4. Please let me know if you guys hear or see anything more before then. Looking forward to it.

It's been almost three months since Jay McFarland announced his intent to run for a 4th District Congressional seat. Maybe he's had a change of heart and begged KSL for his old job back? I personally hope that's not the case, because I never listened to KSL's mid-day show after Amy Iverson left.
I'd like to see KSL radio shuffle their line-up to bring back Alex Kirry and Ethan Millard weeknights from 7-11 PM and revive The Nightside Project, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

Never believe anything in Wikipedia unless you can verify it with a legitimate source.
KSL may not be strictly an all-news station, but it's pretty close. They promote themselves as "Newsradio" and "Utah's News Station." Even the talk shows tend to be news and issue oriented rather than the partisan rhetoric that talk radio stations have. The way I see it, one problem with eliminating the noon news entirely is that the internet has trained the consumer to expect news on demand. The noon hour is when many (most?) workers take their lunch break and have time to catch up on what happened that morning. If KSL is going to be the go-to place for news updates, it has to be there when the listeners want it. That also goes back to the news reruns idea I had for one of 102.7's digital subchannels.

I heard a promo teasing the announcement on Monday. It wasn't the same one that oldiesfunhouse referred to, though. From the way that they worded it, it almost sounds like they're announcing a show with 3 hosts. They need a flagship show, and for many stations the afternoon drive is the money maker for ad revenue.
I don't think a solo "host" for the afternoon news is cutting it, but I might be in the minority. If I was PD I'd move Caplan to 12:30-3 with a lighter "news & views" type show, and bring back the 2 (or 3) anchor "Utah's Afternoon News". More local, breaking news reporters hitting the streets and reporting live. If you're "Utah's News Station" - own it and cover local news again.

I agree about noon news, that should stay. i'd like to see them chop an hour off from 6-7, and maybe have 2 shows. 1 from 6-9, and another from 9-11? maybe midnight. probably won't happen, but wouldn't bother me if it did.

According to the schedule page on kslnewsradio.com, they've shortened Dave & Dujanovic by 1 hr to make room for 1 hr of Inside Sources. My guess is Boyd Matheson is sticking around for that daypart.

Huh? I'm looking at the schedule at kslnewsradio.com/schedule/ now and I still see D&D 9-12, Noon News 12-12:30 and Boyd 12:30-3. Is there a different schedule page?
