For some reason the link to the photo of the new tower isn't working. Anyone who wants to view the image can click on the second link at the bottom of the STA application. Sorry!

KEZF-AM 1230 is back from the dead: The station is now on the air with a simulcast of 1320 KNIT, which itself is a re-broadcast of KRKY-FM. 1230 is loud and clear in Ogden, but 1320 sounds like it's still broadcasting with 90 watts and a longwire. I'm scratching my head over 1230 being the strongest signal, because I understood that 1320 was the station granted a power increase to 500 watts.
I've got to give Vic Michael credit for getting around his alleged former business partner's multiple informal objections, and getting at least one of his Salt Lake stations back on air with a decent signal so quickly. "The Sound of the Rockies" is a good mix of classic hits and country tunes that I could easily get hooked on. And FWIW, the listing for KNIT/KEZF has recently disappeared from the Radio/TV Deals site. Could an LMA be in the works with the construction permit for a Draper FM translator included?
UPDATE: Apparently Kona Coast was just testing the diplexing system, because 1230 is now silent again @ 4 PM. Too bad--I was really enjoying the music.

The 500 watt STA was only granted less than 2 weeks ago. As I understand it, you can't even begin construction of a new facility until it's approved (stations have gotten in trouble for starting construction early even if it's ultimately approved) so it makes sense that the new STA wouldn't be on the air yet. It take some work to add a new station to an existing facility and Michael doesn't need any more trouble than he already has. It sounds like work is progressing though.

KNIT has either been sold or LMA'ed to the Sound of Faith Ministry organization. I tuned into 1320 earlier this afternoon, and the simulcast of KRKY-FM has been replaced by Christian radio programming. For those keeping track, the addition of 1320 gives us four religious/Christian stations on the AM band, with 820, 1010, and 1120 being the other three. KEZF 1230 is still silent as far as I know.

I'm not so quick to make that assumption. Sound of Faith's involvement with broadcast stations is currently limited to buying 15 minute blocks of time on religious stations owned by others. A better explanation would be that you tuned in during one of those times on KRKY.

You may be correct, CA, but if Sound of Faith is buying air time on KRKY in 15 minute blocks, they're buying more than just one block. I listened for at least 1/2 hour while the religious programming continued, and the TOH ID gave the call signs of about a dozen stations in the intermountain West that were carrying the broadcast. Another thing to consider is that the for sale listing for KNIT/KEZF on the RadioTV Deals site disappeared about two weeks ago, and it had been listed for almost a year @ $250 K asking price. May be just coincidence, but I'm more inclined to believe that Kona Coast finally made a deal to sell or LMA 1320.

No, the stations I heard mentioned in the TOH ID were in Montana, Idaho, South Dakota, and a couple of FM translators in cities that I didn't recognize. The religious programming is on air again this morning, and I heard a mention of "your Network of Praise" during one of the breaks. In fact, someone is on air live now, talking about visiting Salt Lake City and the programming being on KNIT radio "with a great signal". I also compared what's being broadcast on 1320 to the TuneIn feed for KRKY-FM. Whatever is on KNIT right now definitely isn't the KRKY simulcast, so I'm pretty sure Salt Lake has yet another religious station on the AM band now.

Your Network of Praise is a network based in Havre, MT headed by a man named Roger Lundquist. They have stations everywhere you said you heard in the TOH ID. www.ynop.org is their website I live in Wyoming now, but when in NW PA, heard their 100kw FM KMCJ 99.5 Miles City MT in a rare moment of winter eskip
