I just noticed this station with a comparatively weak, but clear signal. Heard an ad for Riverton Motors, so it must be fairly local. Can’t find any info on Radio Locator. Heard an ID at about 40 minutes past the hour, sounded like K257AG, but channel 257 is 99.3 and this station is on 99.1. On air woman’s voice (Jackie) says, if you’re looking for the biggest station in town, this is not it. Just heard an ad mentioning iHeart. No top of the hour ID. Nice mellow music; I like it.
Can you hear it? And where are you? I’m in Murray.

I seem to remember KJMY 99.5 having a translator, maybe in Utah County, at 99.1. They would simulcast KJMY's HD2 signal. They were classic country for a while, the Alternative Project, etc. I won't be near a radio for a few hours but I wonder if it's that channel. I have an HD radio at home so I'll check 99.5-2 as well and see what they're playing. It was a simulcast of 97.1 KZHT for a long time. All these are iHeart stations so that's what makes me think it's what this could be. I'm definitely looking forward to checking it out.

That’s it. But this 99.1 broadcast is about 20 seconds behind the 99.5 HD2 broadcast. And 99.1 didn’t mention KJMY HD2 during their ID.
By the way, they repeated their ID, K257JG (not AG). But the channel still doesn’t match the frequency.
Isn’t there some Wyoming or Humpy station waiting for this frequency? Or Nephi?

Yes, there was a 99.1 translator for 99.5 for a long time and it was on Lake Mountain. After translators started being allowed to serve as repeaters for digital subchannels those started being carried on that translator. That was K256AE. After KUDE Nephi moved from 103.9 to 99.1, that translator started moving around. A lot. Here are a few of the threads talking about it: talkingutahradio.proboards.com/thread/1534/k256ae-fighttalkingutahradio.proboards.com/thread/1643/new-application-moving-k256aeThe current callsign is K257GJ as Terry said. It's licensed for 99.3 (see the thread I referenced above) but with a construction permit to go back to 99.1, hence the channel number/frequency discrepancy. Once it's properly relicensed at 99.1 it will get another callsign, hopefully back to K256AE just to make things a little easier . The reason it's back on is that it was silent for nearly a year and the license would have expired at 12:01AM Dec 21 had it not returned to the air. (See licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/getimportletter_exh.cgi?import_letter_id=87341 ) Whether it will remain on the air is a bit of a mystery. I haven't been able to hear it from here, but the branding indicates it might be staying on. You can see the coverage area at fccdata.org/?call=k257gj (make sure your referer header is on.) Ignore the blue area, that's the 99.3 licensed facility. The one you should be looking at is the red one. I'm wondering if they're doing something else right now. KJMY 99.5 is completely off the air as far as I can tell.

Does KMGR Nephi still have a construction permit for increasing power? If that happens, wouldn't the translator have to cease broadcasting?

I live in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City and 99.1 was coming in great on our car radio. They were carrying the Delilah show which was playing Christmas music, but they weren't playing Christmas music when I tuned it in at about 5:30 last night. I did hear an ID that mentioned a translator, I want to say in Provo, and it did mention KJMY HD2. I think they had a liner in Delilah's voice too so they've definitely put enough work into it to make me think they're figuring on staying around. I haven't gotten to check it since the 8 o'clock hour last night. They're going after the audience of Kosy/Sunny it seems to me. I wonder if "Show Tunes Saturday Night" and "Sounds of the Sabbath" will be back. They had a DJ on in that 5 o'clock hour but he only gave a first name so I'm thinking it's probably one of iHeart's many satellite feeds. We'll be going to Layton tonight so I think I'll see how long 99.1 lasts on that trip.

KMGR Nephi's construction permit still only has projected coverage north to about Orem. What happens in the real world is anyone's guess.
Resurrecting Showtunes Saturday Night would be interesting, but Erica Hanson has been doing PR for the Hogle Zoo for years now in addition to some performances. Would adding a radio shift work for her, especially one with a small coverage area and subject to a lot more whims than the big class C KOSY had? After the rug was pulled out from under KOSY once before I'd be a little wary of going back to iHeart.

Laura Bedor (I may not be spelling tat right) was hosting that when I heard it. She had cohosted with Scott fisher on a couple of morning shows. I would say Easy 99.1 became unlistenable just north of Bountiful on our way to Layton. It came in great the other direction on the way to Harriman. And it sounded like they had a local DJ on there too on, I want to say Christmas Eve. She was probably voice tracked but she gave the local time and everything. She wasn't anyone I'd ever heard of. Kathy Mason might have been her name. She gave out her Facebook page but I didn't catch it. I'll probably check it out again tonight. I haven't listened to it on 99.5 HD2 yet. It is something I plan to do but just haven't yet. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas!

If they voice track, they do a good job of it because he also sounded local, mentioning the time (about 6:52) and saying that he was about done and that they would be switching to Delilah at seven. There is a little static where I live in WJ. The signal drops much more at the Point of the Mountain, and begins fighting with KMGR. By PG KMGR controlls.

With decent voicetracking software giving the correct time is a piece of cake, so I wouldn't give too much credit there other than they didn't screw it up. 20 years ago was a different story. When the voicetracking is off by 10 minutes you know you're doing something wrong, and some stations were. Very embarrassing.
As for the coverage, that makes sense. Going north as I15 bends slightly to the east the signal gets blocked by the mountains just north of Salt Lake. I used to see the exact same phenomenon with KCPW-FM's 88.3 signal before they moved west. It might improve again when I15 bends back west at the US89 splitoff. The only other station that is audible at the point is KNYN. Going further north there would be increasing interference from K256BB, but that shouldn't be huge until you're much closer to Ogden if it's still on air. Going south, if KMGR is taking over by Pleasant Grove it sounds like they're already on their upgraded 100kw signal. I don't think the 640 watts could go that far, right?

Interesting that iHeart is putting so many resources into a station with such a small coverage area. This is the same company that let the KWDZ 910 license expire. That would have at least given the station a bigger footprint even if it was only on AM.

The 99.1 translator was turned off for a while early this morning (or at least I could not detect a carrier signal). Now that it is back on, it sounds much better. So kudos to the engineers at iHeart that tweaked it.

Do you mean signal strength or the processing of the station or something else?
