The market is now ranked #30 by Arbitron. Gosh, I remember when it was #32.
Did they add in more counties (ie. Morgan, Summit) or did the population actually shift that much in the metro/2-book full market to justify a bump up?

Could be a number of factors. The pops of 31 and 30 may have decreased, or like you said, they may have added Morgan or Summit, due to the rimshots being licensed to Coalville and the like. That's good news though. Radio has seen some tough times lately as has the economy.

I was reading elsewhere that Atlanta passed Philly to go to number 7, and it wasn't loss of population in Philly. Atlanta is just growing a lot faster.
According to the Census Bureau, Utah's population increased by 14.2% from 2000-2006. The US as a whole increased 6.4% during the same period. According to Arbitron, this was the ranking last year:
FALL 2007 30 CM BH S San Antonio, TX 1,626,500 31 CM H S Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo, UT 1,621,900
And this year
FALL 2008 30 CM H S Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo, UT 1,676,000 31 CM BH S San Antonio, TX 1,675,200
I don't see anything about changing the composition. I think we're just growing faster.
