And the wheel of formats at Cumulus keeps turning. It's hard to tell what the ratings for 94.9 were when they were doing the classic hip hop thing (since Nielsen never did get the attributions straightened out) but I have a hard time believing it did well here. Even the current urban on U92 has fallen a long way from its heyday, and Rhythmic Oldies/older urban/etc have failed (see Fever 107.9 and the first incarnation of Movin 100.7) So IF, and that's a big if, the new Power 94.9 can make some headway against ZHT (which ironically used to be on 94.9) and Mix 105.1 AND Now 97.9, then maybe they can get something going. That's a tough job though. Being the fourth going into a format in a market is not fun. We really wouldn't lump 97.9 (Hot AC) with ZHT and Mix (CHR), would we? If so, you'd have to add B98.7 and My99.5 in as well. I guess that's the whole mess we have in SLC, isn't it. Too many stations doing a lot of the same things.

There's a growing concern around the country (I just read an article about it even) where the lines between Hot AC and CHR are getting pretty blurry, and I think it's valid. There's inevitably going to be some crossover between Hot AC and AC, but personally I don't see 98.7 and 97.9 as being direct competitors. Indirectly, sure. And if you're going that route you have to throw in the 100.3 pound gorilla in the room too. There's lots of room for variations of opinion. DS, you make a very good point except for one thing. VFX hasn't been a factor in the Salt Lake market for as long as I can remember. When they do show up in the ratings it's just barely. Frankly I'm confused about why they even bother with the 98.3 Salt Lake booster, but that's another topic that we can get into if anyone wants to.

Nielsen DID have complete information on KENZ listenership... but due to an anomoly in the automated reporting of 6plus numbers to the press... it didn't make it to those lists... but subscribers saw everything. Actually from Oct 2015 to Jan 2017 they AVERAGE a 1.6 Share.. and kept the cume about 200k more often than not... actually looked pretty good in Utah Valley... and Actually KEPT most of that in their transition to CHR... preliminarily it looks like a quick bump up for them with the new format
