For me it's a hit especially with the closer view of those AM arrays at the south end. Of course, there will be those who will think its the Autobahn forcing us radio tower sightseers to keep our eyes on the road. Some landscaping will be nice when it's planted and established...

So, how are people behaving with respect to the speed limit? I think that I saw on the TV news that it's 55 mph.

Yes, it's 55. That was part of the deal between the environmentalists and the state.
Some of the compromises are reasonable, but that's just ridiculous. The local wildlife is really going to notice a difference between a car going 60 and one going 70? Give me a break here. I'd say they would get used to it, but they won't have to. There has been heavy construction equipment making a LOT more noise for several years already. the cars (even at 70MPH) are going to sound downright peaceful!
The worst part of it is that I'm forecasting that this will be the Achilles Heel of the whole project. I have to do some more testing, but I'm reasonably sure that going via I-15 is going to be faster than going 10MPH slower on Legacy. I'm also forecasting that after the honeymoon is over and people realize this, use of Legacy in large part will be limited to rush hour.
If that turns out to be true, I'll be very surprised if any local media picks up on it. The media seems to be falling all over itself praising this project. There's a lot of good about it, and it was absolutely necessary (as we were reminded again last month), but that doesn't mean it's as good as it could be or should be.
Here's a tip for an enterprising journalist or ND. Go somewhere on the west side during some big event. Something at the E Center would be good. Start polling Davis County residents on how they got there and why. See what they say about Legacy. I'd like to see those poll numbers. I'll bet the reality will be that little attention gets paid.

I heard there was supposed to be some new highway going along the Oquihrr's around behind the new daybreak so from 15 at the point to 80, near the airport. I think the sales folk over at daybreak talked about this. Any info on that?? That would be nice. As long as they don't make it like Bangerter.

The Bangerter and Legacy are much the same......except the Bangerter has stoplights! Ick. Here's my take on the Legacy having now driven both north and south on it:
Think I-15 from Bountiful to Lagoon....circa 1970! All that's needed to complete time travel iss the "Fadel's" billboard, the old USU botanical gardens and some quality top 40 radio ie: KCPX, KNAK, KVOG!

I like how you worked radio in there. *applause* Oh, and Happy Birthday. My initial tests on travel time on Legacy to I-215 vs. I-15 to I-215 are not encouraging. Assuming you stay somewhat close to the speed limit (I was at 70 on I-15 and 60 on Legacy), it will take a minute or two longer to use Legacy. And most people seem to be following the 55(ish) speed limit on Legacy. This was non-rush hour, and obviously rush hour will be different. How much does it matter? Personal preference. Psychologically to me, the faster speed makes a difference too. I don't see anything like what Timmy's describing.
