Given the unimaginative name and logo I have to agree that this could still be stunting.

The "Classic Hits" name is along the lines of what Clear Channel is doing. Look at Oldies 94.1, Rock 106.5, Talk Radio 105.7.

According to All Access, that's correct. So to recap, 101.9 flips to Classic Hits, Bob and Tom move from KBER to 101.9, Mick and Allen move from KBER afternoons to KBER mornings, and Mike Parsons comes to KBER afternoons. www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/121398/classic-hits-the-new-alternative-at-kenzRadioInsight was right about what was going to happen, radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/83906/cumulus-planning-major-salt-lake-shuffle/ so I would take Lance's suggestion of a relaunch of Alternative on 94.9 seriously. That makes no sense to me, but what do I know. As I've pointed out before, if you combine Z-Rock and KBER, you aren't going to combine the ratings they get individually. Radio doesn't work like that. And doing that just to put alternative on 94.9, which hasn't worked no matter what they did for years? I don't get it. Can someone explain this to me? P.S. The new website (a duplicate of what's showing at 1019theend.com) is www.classichits1019.com/

Great. Three stations grinding away playing dusty Doobie Brothers tracks ... and ZERO stations playing EDM (which is undergoing a HUGE emergence to mainstream, like Alternative rock did in the 90s).
Whateves, radio biz. Enjoy having NO listeners under 31. Back to Spotify I go.

That's a homerun Henry!
Basically Salt Lake has 4 formats
Classic Hits/Rock - 106.5-103.5-94.1-101.9-101.1 and I'll even throw in 100.7 since it's mostly classic hits
AC/Hot A/C - 99.5-97.1-97.9-103.9/107.9-98.7
Country 104.3-93.3-101.5
Sports 97.5-1280-700-1320
And a very few odds and ends on the dial like 96.3 or 92.5
WOW what variety... Basically I can find a Doobie Brothers song playing 5 times an hour.
I'll stick with Spotify or Slacker and my trusted XM which now has the Classic 90's and 2000 Dance channel and Classic College Radio (Indie Rock from the 90'sand early 2K YEA!

You can also add 100.3 to the list of AC stations. Most crowded radio market in the country. Crazy!

Basically Salt Lake has 4 formats AC/Hot A/C - 99.5-97.1-97.9-103.9/107.9-98.7 Minor note to that, 92.1, 96.7 add to the "Hot AC/AC" column and 107.9 is actually CHR, like KZHT 97.1. Despite the format's solid PPM success nationally, the market only has two. Two more formats on FM to add: News / talk: 102.7, 105.7, 103.1 Spanish language [primarily regional Mexican ]: 102.3, 104.7, 106.1

I guess if we want to streach we could also add KLZX to the list of Classic Rock since it reaches the northern tip of the metro.

Seattle,
You may be correct on 97.1 and 107.9 being CHR BUT......
Last time I listened to 97.1 they were doing an all Justin Bieber weekend for his concert in SLC awhile back even though there are alot of tenny bopper fans for these types of groups
I consider them A/C meaning All Crap

Kerry, Bill, and Gina took phones about this in the 8 am hour today for their "Hello? Yeah? What?" segment. It's definitely interesting to hear caller reaction to losing 101.9 The End and other changes at Cumulus Salt Lake City. Podcast up here: www.spreaker.com/show/the_radio_from_hell_show a few hours after the broadcast.

I've dropped 101.9 from my station list. 103.5 and 106.5 already have that marked cornered. Now I need to find another alternative radio station that doesn't have political morning commentators (aka X96).

Not surprising. There was only so long that the end could continue going south. Is anyone going to miss Chunga? If that all access article is correct, 94.9 is going to go after X96, which may or may not be a good thing. 94.9's signal is decent, but X96 has Farnsworth... so. It'll be interesting to see where this goes. I wish I still lived in SLC.
