Who's this supposed "English teacher," Peter? {Looking around, and upon seeing none, that leaves me to wonder, especially since nobody has said anything "teacherish" or directly corrective, that should or could earn them that badge seriously or even jokingly...} Well, anyway, happy Christmas! :-) Well looks like MAXX has had to much EGGNOG!! That English teacher would be me!!! 2 years now Tahoe Valley Elementary! And a good humbug to you sir!!

From a marketing standpoint, it was smart to flip during Christmas music rather than during any other time.
At Christmas their ratings (and cume I'd imagine) is the highest.
Plus, the Christmas cume comes from all different stations, so there's a chance people listening might be rock listeners during the rest of the year that tuned in to get their Christmas fix.
During regular programming, and I'm just guessing, I bet cross cume with rock station listeners is far less.
And I do agree, whatever happened to stunting before a format flip. Miss those days.

cnstr8 has a very good point about sampling. It's very true that a lot larger cross-section would be exposed to the format, but I've never subscribed to the "any publicity is good publicity" school. These people tuned in to hear Christmas music. If it ain't there, especially only a few days before Christmas, they are OUTTA there and probably pretty pissed off to boot. If that was their thought, it would have been better to wait for a natural break, say 8PM on Christmas night. That's just my opinion though.
