It's that time of year again! Today is Halloween, and that means we'll soon be hearing jingle bells on the radio. Which station do you think will flip to all-Christmas music?

Personally I think the real question is which station will flip first. I think it's a very safe bet that both 106.5 and FM100 will flip, possibly within hours of each other. I think 106.5 will be first, and that may be a few hours from now.
If I were to peg just one, I'll put 106.5 since they'll be first.

I could vote now, but since KOSY's already flipped, I guess it wouldn't count. Some constraint this year, we made it to November 2nd! My prediction is FM a hunerd flips Monday, or maybe they wait until after the election. I am surprised, though, that they don't have a stream up yet, as they have done that in the past couple of years....

I amend....I believe FM100point3 will flip Monday, not after the election as the website has the Norbest Christmas Cash contest starting Monday morning....

Well, half way through Monday, and here I sit with egg(nog) on my face as the point 3 folks have yet to jump in to the all holiday hits contest, not even a stream up yet......maybe they are waiting for the next PPM period to begin? Meh. Back to the original question, I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say that when and if KSFI makes the flip, they will be the only two stations to do fulltime christmas music in the metro this year*. They have been the only two stations to reall get traction from it. *Exceptions -KBZN and KBEE may flip but only way closer to the Christmas day, and, if KSL follows tradition, the will play Christmas music Christmas Eve and a good part of Christmas Day. Stunting for a format flip not included, see store for details.

I'm surprised too. They usually can't help themselves. I agree that they will make a flip sooner rather than later, but I don't know when.
Now 97.9 has been doing very well, so if they haven't flipped before KSFI (and I don't think they will) then I wouldn't expect them to do anything other than sprinkling in a few songs here and there for a while yet. Not as sure about The B, but not likely in my opinion. But I have no inside information either.

Yep, it's done.
Personally I'd like to see the week by week (or better, day by day) breakdowns of AC stations before and after holiday flips this early in the season.

FM-One-Hundred-Point-Three flipped at 10:00 AM on Friday.
(Do we still need to say "point three" anymore? That 'other" FM 100 station changed their moniker long ago.)

I would guess the marketing people don't want anyone to have problems figuring out where to go. As the saying goes, "nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." I can tell you that this is 100% correct.

I found some 16" discs in the basement, marked "Utah State Symphony Christmas Eve Concert" ( I forget which years...probably the 1940's). I wonder if we could play some cuts on KSL on Christmas Eve? Without copyright hassles, I mean.

Interesting.....a trip to the B-98.7 website shows the logo as Utah's Favorite Christmas Hits, but I'm still hearing the AC music........hmmmmmmmm.....
