By the time midnight gets to Utah, the great majority of the world has already celebrated it, not just the East Coast.

The SLTrib finally picked up the story, and their article says that Jeff Simpson will not simultaneously head BYU Broadcasting and Deseret Management. www.sltrib.com/news/business/2023/11/18/deseret-management-corp-gets-new/ Instead, he will move solely to Deseret Management on December 1st. I guess we will soon know which article was correct on that point, if either of them.

The tone of the last sentence seems to indicate that there are no present plans to promote someone else to head BYU Broadcasting. It seems unique to me for one person to be the head of both nonprofit and for-profit broadcasting companies simultaneously.

I don't remember now exactly where I was. South of Nephi for sure, because once I got to Nephi, I started focusing on which SLC stations I could get and which I could not. So between Nephi and Fillmore seems probable.
The reason why I am sure that it was KAGJ is because the DJ mentioned their "The KAGE/CAGE" branding.

I'd been down in southern Utah for the past week. On the way back to WJ yesterday, I picked up a station on 88.9 that was playing rock. I wasn't aware of a noncommercial station that did rock other than (sometimes) the Pleasant Grove and Orem high school stations, which I was too far away to pick up. So I thought that perhaps it was a pirate. But now I know I was picking up KAGJ. www.snow.edu/academics/fineart/communication/kagj/index.html
I was on I-15, so the signal was carrying a long ways from the campus of Snow College. Where is their tower located at?

I understand that it may be several months before the FCC approves the transfer of the license. I wonder if Wasatch Public Media intends to keep broadcasting on KCPW until the bitter end, or if they will pull the plug sometime sooner. Could the U work out a lease/broker deal to start the new format prior to having the license in hand?I imagine that KCPW donors and underwriters are not going to be eager to keep putting money into a sinking ship, so that might be a way of paying the bills for the transmitter's power.

I think the SL Trib misread the press release. They are saying that the local English-language programs will continue to air on KCPW. Whereas the press release says that they will "continue to be produced and broadcast by Logan-based Utah Public Radio." Although I admit I am confused by the "continue to be". Does Utah Public Radio have a role now in those programs?

Maybe they will keep it much like it is now -- i.e., an outlet for the non-NPR public radio news and talk programs that are not already on KUER?

I am pretty sure that, at least last season, KUMT did not air BYU Radio's coverage of BYU games that KSL was airing live. I have no knowledge of what the HD2 did.

Later this month, my wife and I will be in St. George for a week. What format does KSGO have, and is it the same format than KZNU had?

During another song set of the stunting on Halloween Day, the theme could be "Your body is flammable." Songs could include Blue Oyster Cult's "Burning for You" and Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on Fire".

As I mentioned in the KNAK thread, there is so much recorded music that never gets airplay anymore. Thank goodness people are able to upload it to Youtube. Remember my half-serious post about how if I was in charge, I would have a station stunt by playing the REALLY old oldies? Songs that were recorded at least a hundred years ago?
Another Halloween stunting idea that I posted about somewhere on this board a few years ago was for the station to play songs from their routine playlist (as opposed to, say, Monster Mash) that just happen to have spooky/gruesome lyrics if you were to take them literally. The DJs could create song sets with a common theme, such as "unusual hungers." Thinking about songs like Eric Carmen's "Hungry Eyes" or Bruce Springstein's "Hungry Heart".

Who knew that the Beach Boys came out with an instrumental album, that included Salt Lake City on it? www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbGASY-Om5sI love that an image of album cover is included. There is so much recorded music that just never gets played anymore.

I've been listening to the stream today. Not that impressed. Definitely not much from the older end of the spectrum. And I have heard absolutely no country, which the press release cited as something that was to be included. Not even any country-crossover.
There have been no ads thus far. There is a cash giveaway contest, which I tried to enter by texting the keyword of the hour to the required number. I then was asked for my zip code of residence. Which I supplied. Only to be told that I didn't qualify for their "nationwide" contest because I live more than 150 miles away from any of their stations.
