Here it is Halloween and nary a jingle or bell (other than Nauvoo) to be heard or even a hint. Will the holiday music avalanche happen later this year - like maybe Thanksgiving? Or will the halls be decked by the end of the week? Whadda ya think?

I doubt anyone would be surprised if both 106.5 and 100.3 (probably in that order) are ho-ho-hoing by the end of the week. Wouldn't surprise me if it starts tomorrow. There IS a snowstorm brewing....
Whichever station flips first, you know the other won't be far behind.

I still miss the "Merry Christmas... from 97 point 9 the breezeeeeee" myself. I wonder if anyone's ever recorded that jingle package?

Amazingly, my research indicates that the first station to flip all Christmas this year is in the Yuletide capitol of New Jersey!

Well the FM ahunerd stream is up and presumably the HD2 signal. Not near my HD right now. Noonish for those of you keeping score at home....

Whichever station flips first, you know the other won't be far behind. I'm going to wager that either KSFI, KOSY, or KLGN (AM 1390) will flip to all Christmas music by Monday Nov. 7th. After all, Comcast's Music Choice channel 933 flipped from all Halloween music to all Christmas music Nov. 1st. Too bad there aren't any Thanksgiving songs (except for maybe George Winston's "Thanksgiving")--then at least we'd have something to bridge the gap between Halloween and Christmas.

David, you're completely forgetting "Alice's Restaurant" DOH! You're right, CA. I remember hearing that song (all 17 1/2 minutes of it) played on KDYL last Thanksgiving, so it's surprising I forgot about "Alice."

It's ok Homer. Alice is really only peripherally about Thanksgiving, though it's become traditional in some circles. In the past some stations (usually oldies stations) have made somewhat of a big deal of it, scheduling it at specific times. Anyone know how many stations are still going to those lengths?

I thought it was odd that KOSY, after 6pm last night, when their LDS music ended, they went to regular AC with what sounded like a syndicated show. Some of the automation misfired too, which is what lead me to think it was syndicated. But it was not Christmas music.
Looking at yes.com, it looks like from 6pm to 10pm they played regular AC music.
