It wasn't reported on their website, and it was late enough at night that very few people were listening but a couple of nights ago I got a rare DX opportunity to see what else was on 640.
KFI's transmitter completely cut off the air several times and long enough for me to hear a spanish playing station that was fairly strong come in in the background. I think I already have it but just something interesting to hear... a major 50kw station having tx problems.
Anyone else know anything about what happened?

There are the usual suspects, maintenance and unexpected problems. I remember reading that it was going to take a long time to replace the main antenna that was badly damaged when a plane ran into it a few years ago. Have they finished the replacement yet? I know KFI went to their shorter aux antenna after the crash and they were expected to be on it for maybe a few years. Maybe the new system is finally up?

If you believe Wikipedia they have gone through two new towers after the second to newest collapsed during construction. I suspect something went wrong and their engineer fell asleep at the wheel. It was 1 AM after all. The only people who would be listening would be C2C fans or DXers.

Wikipedia is about as reliable as a Magic 8 Ball.
