I think Barry Wood is a Communications Attorney and a station broker, so he may not be interested in owning and operating a station full time. He probably wants to keep the license alive, until he can find a qualified buyer. That's hard to do without a tower. And, AM1010 isn't putting out a good nighttime signal under the STA. Not sure who owns what physical property out there....last I checked, the land was all owned by Godfrey (Family) Trucking. So, now I wonder who is paying rent to who. I wonder if an arrangement might be made to put the tower and phasor back together, and get both stations back to full operational status. Maybe Godfrey Trucking would be interested in creating an all-trucker channel on 1550, working an LMA with Bonneville and their well-established Traffic Team. Run some Country music a bit, keep the truckers updated on area traffic and road conditions, run commercials for trucking and transportation -related businesses and services. The KRGO call sign might be available ("Cargo"). Does KMRI broadcast at all, except maybe streaming? And, where is their studio? KMRI has only been available through online streaming since the tower collapsed in March 2020. Whatever studio facilities they may have had probably went bye-bye after AASAA Media declared bankruptcy. And FWIW, KIHU has a better signal in Ogden at night with its puny 48 watts non-directional than it did with its directional nighttime signal before the tower collapse. CBR in Calgary used to be the dominant station on 1010 after dark before KIHU switched to a non-directional signal, but these days I rarely hear CBR in Ogden at night.

A second broadcast station can use the same root callsign as another station in a different service provided they get permission from the original owner of that callsign.
Stations need to use whatever their callsign is for the ID. If there's an -FM they have to use it for the legal ID. If there isn't they can't add it. There is no such thing anymore as "KLO" but 103.1 is still officially "KLO-FM" so that's what they have to use. (There's also no such thing as an -AM suffix.)
I still don't understand the connection between whatever has been streaming for the last few years and the 1550 broadcast station. The company that owned 1550 was placed into receivership.
