I can't understand why Broadway Media would want to torpedo KOOL 105.5 just when the station's ratings are going up, with the possible exception of the oldies/classic hits format being difficult to sell to advertisers. There's no getting around the fact that most KOOL 105.5 listeners are in the 50+ age bracket, which is a demographic group that's almost universally ignored by radio advertisers. It makes zero sense to me to dump the "pop, soul and rock & roll" format when KEGA and U92 have been near the bottom of the ratings for months (or possibly years) now, but there could be something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. Time will tell.

101.5 has a much stronger signal but that's completely irrelevant. The main is about 45 miles away and shadowed by mountains that block the signal. The main could barely be heard through the static before the boosters were turned on, which is why those boosters are there.
I agree that at the moment it doesn't make sense to move Kool to digital/online only with a vague idea that it might be coming back to analog. I have a hunch that there's another shoe that's poised to drop and I don't think it's one of Broadway's other stations or they would have done it already. I'm guessing there's a new acquisition in the works, either a purchase or maybe an LMA, and those negotiations aren't done yet. If that's true it doesn't explain the urgency in moving Bob to 105.5 but we might find that out later too.
FWIW the new website is koolslc.com which was just created on Thursday.
