Apparently smooth jazz/AC stations are being murdered by PPM. I guess people lied when filling out diaries about them. Today from Inside Radio, my manager passed along this tidbit. Also, this station is weird because Clear Channel ACTUALLY ran it, but it was owned by Entravision. PPM claims L.A. format. Entravision blows-up modern rock "Indie 103.1" KDLD saying the switch to electronic measurement means stations are "forced" play to records that are "neither new nor cutting edge." So Entravision says it will move the Indie format online and launch a new station on KDLD. Speculation is focused on its new "El Gato" format.

Of course the other way to look at it is that stations that were getting good ratings that they didn't deserve were lucky for a long time and those that bought time were paying for nonexistent people.
Accuracy is better in my opinion, whichever way it goes.

Mark my words: After El Gato runs for 2-3 years, 103.1 will flip Dance again ... then Clear Channel with sabotage it again, it'll flip AAA again .... and the cycle of life continues.
Can't wait for it's next dance run!
