While KLO was off the air last night I was listening to a Fox Sports station on 1430. I’ve been hearing this station loudly interfering at night with KLO for quite a while now, but was only able to finally identify it last night. It is KCLK in Asotin, WA (Clarkston). I’m convinced that they are operating with their daytime power at night. (I could be wrong, of course.) Radio Locator shows their nighttime signal with a definite null towards Ogden. Their daytime signal appears to be strongly directed toward northern Utah. By the way, I think KLO’s towers are on the west side of Layton but not actually on Antelope Island. I've heard KCLK once or twice in 6 months REAL well here in Laramie, WY

Terry is correct. KLO's towers are at the end of 3200 West in Layton. In fact one null goes southwest right over Antelope Island. There is another null to the northwest, but it doesn't hit Ogden. In fact, it's at it's strongest directly north and south from the transmitter location. The interactive map at fccdata.org/?lang=en&facid=35069 might be of some help here. This is pure speculation, but maybe the reason KLO was off the air was to gather evidence about KCLK?

As I reread your reply, I’m thinking you misunderstood me. I was referring to KCLK’s signal having a nighttime null toward Ogden.

Yes, I definitely misunderstood. I'm really on a roll this week. You're definitely right.

KLO was off due to some lightning caused issues. That makes at least two AM stations which have been knocked off the air recently due to lightning: first KBJA and then KLO. KOGN was also off air for about 24 hours last week, so I wonder if their tower got struck by lightning as well. KBJA was still off the air earlier today. I did get a very quick response to my post on KLO's Facebook page from Program/Operations Director Rob Riesen, which I greatly appreciated. Ditto for the time I posted on 103.1 The Wave's Facebook page about the Ogden booster being off, and received a quick reply and a thank you from Chet Tapp. Nice to see that Capital Broadcasting is so responsive to their listeners.
