April ratings are out.
The addition of 105.5 to The Eagle is not helping. If it were me, I'd be trying promotions in the Tooele area (don't know if they are or if they were waiting for the finalization of the sale of the translator, which happened a few days ago.) If things don't turn around in a few months I'd start looking at changes. Can someone who has been listening to the station regularly for a while tell me if there's been an increase in classic country or classic country sounding music over the last 6 months?

It appears to me from perusing the latest ratings that KEGA is fighting a losing battle to the 800 pound gorillas of KSOP-FM and KUBL-FM when it comes to country formats. When an FM station is placing just above an AM classic country station in the ratings, it's time to consider something different. It might be a good opportunity for KUMT to move their format to 101.5/105.5 once the deal with BYU is closed. I don't see how The Mountain could do any worse ratings wise, since KEGA has basically been stagnating for the last several ratings periods.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that exchanging 107.9 for 101.5 makes no sense. Those facilities are identical. The next thing is that Broadway is almost certainly not going to give up 105.5 after they just went through the effort to set it up and acquire it. (They also have a construction permit to do something similar with a translator on 104.7 pointed at Tooele only.) What's on 101.5 and 105.5 certainly might change, but I'm pretty confident Broadway will be running both. There are other options for whatever BYU calls their new 107.9, but I would say it would be prudent to see what the reaction to the station is before sinking more money into it to cover the Tooele side of the mountains.
