The statement that the station ha been silent for more than 6 years is incorrect. Perhaps someone at InsideRadio needs to hire a new proofreader, since they're under the impression that WBVA has been off the air for more than 6 years during its most recent license term. The figure quoted in the article is a total of 2,186 "dark" days, which comes out to 5.98 years by my calculation (2,186/365). Fuzzy math, perhaps?

Thanks for the link, CA. I see from looking at the FCC chart that WBVA has been silent for a total of six years from April 1, 2008 to November 30, 2017. The way I read the article, I thought WBVA had been silent for six years continuously. And I thought KWDZ was bad for its number of silent days since iHeart bought the station in 2015!
As you might have guessed, math wasn't my strongest subject in school.

The KROY story is not a "silent station" story. The station was silent a lot but when it was operating it was at an unlicensed location. The licensee also made odd claims that his Constitutional rights were violated and that the FCC was required to waive its rules (how does that work?) among other things.
