FWIW, all the filings went through, EMF now owns 88.1 and the callsign was officially changed to KUAO. If anyone wants it, the KWCR calls are now available.

The sad end of the station affectionately known to some as "Quacker"..... A/K/A "K-Wacker" when I was in the broadcasting program at Weber State in the early 1990's! EMF appears to be gobbling up FM stations like Pac Man, as they also recently bought WBRU in Providence. Apparently the future of radio lies in religion and politics.

In a way I think what's happening is a good thing. There are too many radio stations. Think of it like Broadcasting Darwinism.

I think the band needs something more like euthenasia. Is Dr jack kavorkian still around?? 😁. I know there's a few satellators and translators that I can think of...

In a way I think what's happening is a good thing. There are too many radio stations. Think of it like Broadcasting Darwinism. I agree, there are too many radio stations . . . broadcasting the same nationally syndicated programming heard on hundreds of stations across the U.S., and too little variety and originality in programming. I think that's one of the reasons radio isn't as popular as it used to be. When you can tune across the AM band at night and hear nothing but George Noory and nothing but Rush Limbaugh and the various Salem Radio Network hosts during the day, radio has lost the local focus that made it popular for nearly four decades after television became the dominant communications medium. If you look at the way the local radio stations in Houston have reacted to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, you can see there's still a big need for local stations to serve their communities with something other than the same homogeneous programming day after day.
