I'm not too surprised at that. I might do exactly the same thing if I were in their shoes. Filing a resumption of operation and requesting to go silent again at the same time might raise too many questions. Everybody in the business knows this game, but being blatant about it might just be too big a risk. That might also be why they resumed operation a few weeks early, just in case the FCC questioned sitting on a license without using it. My guess would be that another silent request will be coming along shortly, though I hope I'm wrong and somebody will actually start programming it.

The FCC has granted Citicasters yet another 180 day remain silent authority for KWDZ. For those who care, this is the 7TH time since November 2013 that 910 AM has been granted authority to remain silent or an extension of remain silent authority by the FCC. I wonder how long Uncle Charlie will play this game with Citicasters before they finally tell them to sell the license or surrender it like they did with the Cochise stations? licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/getimportletter_exh.cgi?import_letter_id=76624

The big difference I see is that iHeart has significant political clout and Cochise doesn't. Politics shouldn't come into play but we all know having friends in high places helps. See the WOR-TV law for a perfect example.

See the WOR-TV law for a perfect example. Considering iHeart's current dire financial situation and doubt about the company to continue as a going concern until the end of this year, I'm surprised they have any political clout at all.
