Remember that big question about what was going to happen with K256AE (the 99.1 translator on Lake Mountain) when KUDE moved to the same channel? Well, now we know what iHeart plans. They've applied to move the station to Ensign Peak covering Salt Lake with a pretty sharp null to the north. Seems like a good move.

This move makes me wonder if they actually have plans to do something with KWDZ; for example, putting 910 on the FM translator on 99.1. Their other AM station in the Salt Lake market, KNRS, is already on FM, and KWDZ is still owned by iHeart as far as I know.

KWDZ is still owned (ultimately) by iHeart, yes. That would be a waste though. K256AE has been a translator for 99.5 (with various formats) for decades and the nominal primary for years has been KJMY-HD2. There's no reason to think that iHeart is dumping the IBOC streams any time soon if for no other reason than it's a very high power STL (sort of) for the translator. Why waste the AM as an excuse to program a translator when you can just use the digital sideburns that almost nobody is going to listen to otherwise?
