So I emailed SBG to see if I could get any more information on Comet TV coming to KJZZ. They responded that Comet TV comes to KJZZ in February or March of 2017.
They did not mention if this would be on the primary channel (14.1) or a sub-channel (14.x).
I've noticed that when I type in 14.2 manually on my TV, it brings up the Spanish channel on 10.1. Are they sub-letting under 14? Will this be changing soon (since 10.1 and 50.1 are owned by the same group IIRC)
Anyone heard anything on this? I'd love to cut back on the number of duplicate networks we've got locally (three Telemundos, 2x for Grit and Escape and others).
We still need:
Decades Retro TV
And I still wish H&I was broadcast over-the-air in the Salt Lake metro area instead of just the southern portion of the state.

I would say there's no reasonable chance that the main KJZZ programming is going away. It makes no sense programmatically or economically. It has to be on an additional separate stream.
As for your TV, I think it's trying to be helpful but getting confused. KJZZ is on RF channel 46 but identifies itself by virtual channel 14 to match the original analog channel it had before the digital transition. (That was done to minimize viewer confusion so they could continue to find stations the same way they always had.)
KULX uses virtual channel 10, which was also the first RF channel they had. So far so good, but then they changed their RF channel to 14, which had nothing on it after the analog KJZZ went off the air back in 2009. KULX kept their virtual channel 10 even after moving their RF channel from 10 to 14. They only channel that should be identified as 14-whatever should be KJZZ 14.1 at this point, but it sounds like your TV is seeing you put in 14.2 and there isn't anything identifying that way, so it looks for anything that could be identified as a 14.2 and showing that to you. The program is the consumer grade electronics are trying to hide all this from the user to make it simple. Mostly that's good, but there really should be finer controls for those who want to understand what's going on. Clear as mud?
As for the missing networks, there are almost certainly contracts and legal issues involved. I'd watch for changes Jan 1.

So I did a re-scan on my TV set on Jan 2nd. 60 channels/subchannels came in. 18.x had a lot of options (some religious, more shopping, more of others as well) when 18.x had been quite for me before (out of northern Davis County). So far no other changes to the already established channels.

18 just showed up for me for the first time in a long time this morning when my tuner did an autoscan, but it's dicey. Maybe they're working on the signal. I'm much more interested in Comet, though if I owned a station I'd probably try to make a deal for H&I.
