oh yes it's on. I meant to post that. It finally came on about a month after I posted I couldn't hear it here in Evanston. The other interesting thing about it is that it is pretty clean. They are actually not pushing it hard and modulating 120% and trying to be loud. I think down there on the boosters they are loud and squashed like 97.1 and most of the other hot stations but on the humpy feed it's not. By the way yes 107.1 is on too with Spanish and it came up when the boosters did down there.

It would be interesting to know where Evanston rates on rural communities served by Grade A signals. My guess would be that Evanston has more such signals than nearly any other town not within the boundaries of a metropolitan area. (The US government defines Evanston as a micropolitan statistical area.)

Yah it's a lot more interesting than when I moved here in 1991. We had one local FM and maybe 3 translators and that was it. Now with all the humpies and a few religious plus university of Wyoming and 2 local fm's it's a cluttered FM dial. Not as cluttered as salt lake but quite cluttered for a rural town of 12000 people not near any metro area. Made quite an impact on our (KEVA and knyn) sales when all the humpy Peak stations started coming online. And still even more are slated to come online!

According to the promo I heard last night on 107.9, we can hear the move to 105.1 later this morning at 10:51.

It's official. Banks said there would be some silence, I expected a few seconds, then some launch audio. But just dead air for a minute or so on 105.1, 107.9 and 103.9. Then they just came back from the dead air with the mix staff and are giving away concert tickets. part of me wondered if they would break into whatever Community Wireless has lined up for 1079, and then relay KALL on 1039. But right now they're playing clips of songs on the simulcast, and then interrupting with the announcement of the move. Which definitely makes sense.

at michaeljwyo, that's awesome they're not over-modulating the main, I don't know why people feel the need to do that down here. It just sounds loud, distorted, and generally not complementary to whatever your broadcasting.

I for one enjoyed the edm format on 105.1. It will be interesting to see what the final ratings were when KAUU was on the edm format. Hopefully, one of the radio networks will decide to bring it back full-time.

I think there was room for improvement in the handling of this move. They finally put the announcements on their own social media pages this week, but still didn't put the TIME of the switch. For that I had to read an article on 2News' website. Even the on air produced pieces just a few hours before the switch didn't give the time. With a switch like this there's always a risk of listeners not following you, especially casual and occasional listeners. Everything was right there, but wasn't used to its full potential.
If I'm ZHT or Now I'd be worried. Mix's Achilles Heel has always been the signals. That's gone. It's going to be interesting to see where the numbers go from here.
