The U of U women's basketball team had a game at the same time as the Las Vegas bowl, so KALL was not available. I would not read too much into this. The last thing the SLC market needs is another sports station. Or another Spanish language station!

The commercials seems a bit weird, but I've wondered if they plan to make sure everything is running smoothly before promoting the new signal. While mix1051slc.com has been parked for over a year now, Broadway recently registered hot1051 which if i had to guess is generic, Cumulus registered the "hot monaker for 1019 when they registered alt 1019. But Broadway has also registered kiss1051.com. There has also been a facebook page up for the last couple weeks, kiss105, that has a countdown to launch for Midnight on nov. 1st. There is a short description on the fb page. "SALT LAKE CITY! IT'S COMING! STAY TUNED!" Kiss151.com appears to have been registered by someone at KUUU, not Broadway Media directly. who.godaddy.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=kiss1051.com&prog_id=GoDaddy Probably just a prank. On the other hand, mix1051slc.com was registered by the owner of Summit Technology, which is the IT contractor for Broadway Media. So I think this website will be the real deal. who.godaddy.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=mix1051utah.com&prog_id=GoDaddy&k=%20L0aUv9OIP9duneCfj45yzj94Ae%2fzXKiTKZx3EZ%2flX0KTmpjTIWkaSP7%2fAxSNGjK

On second thought, a station with call letters KAUU would work well for a sports station "All University Utah". Perhaps KALL wants an FM simulcast partner.

Amanuensis is right. Another sports station would be insane. Add all the sports stations currently on air together and it would do decently. Individually, not so much. Besides, if Broadway really wanted a KALL-FM rimshot they would have kept 107.1 when it was simulcasting earlier this year. Also since 107.9 is being donated, Mix is going to need a new home. It's almost a sure bet that Mix will move to 105.1 at some point. It does very well for a rimshot and giving it a better signal can only help them.
As far as the KAUU callsign, that's a leftover from when 105.1 was simulcasting KUUU a long time ago. They just never bothered to change the callsign even when the simulcast ended. Nothing to see there.

This isn't the permanent format for 105.1. There's no way Broadway is just shutting down Mix 107.9. It could be a trial balloon to see if tweaking U92's playlist might help, or it could just be an interesting diversion while the paperwork goes through the FCC.
