KDYL (1060 AM) has been off the air yesterday and today. Just technical issues, or is there something else happening? Anyone know?

A check of the FCC database shows no application for going silent; in fact there's been no activity in the station's file since KDYL was sold at the end of June. Maybe CRI (China Radio International) didn't pay UP&L??

Or, more likely, maybe the Chinese government failed to fund CRI.

I'm hearing some interesting DX on 1060 with KDYL off the air this morning. A station identifying as "Funny 1060 AM" out of Canada is broadcasting an all-comedy format which is pretty entertaining, especially if you're downing a few cold ones while listening. I'm guessing the station must be CKMX in Calgary. Hopefully KDYL will be off the air for a few more days, because what I've heard on 1060 since sunset is infinitely more interesting than anything I've heard on KDYL lately. AM DX season is just around the corner, folks!

You might keep checking 1060 David. Several years ago I was getting a mix of Calgary and KDYL at night up in the Ogden area. KDYL only runs 149 watts at night.

You might keep checking 1060 David. Several years ago I was getting a mix of Calgary and KDYL at night up in the Ogden area. KDYL only runs 149 watts at night. For some reason I'm in a great spot for receiving multiple AM stations on the same frequency at night. When KDYL is on air, I have a tough time hearing any other stations on 1060. It's ironic that I live in an area of Ogden that's a black hole for FM signals (unless there's E or F layer "skip" conditions), but I have a great location for AM DX'ing. By the way, KDYL was on air again as of Thursday night, so apparently the station got its technical difficulties worked out. Guess that means I'll have to get working on setting up internet connections in a couple other rooms in my house so I can listen to the Canadian comedy station on line.
