Mills Crenshaw has moved from KTKK to KLO's PM Drive slot, pushing Hugh Hewitt to evenings. The show is local, unlike the rest of the day on KLO. Do you think it will make a difference?
Side note: somebody at KLO should notice that the background image on their website still has both the 103.1 & 1430 frequencies on it. It looks like a ghost, which is what 103.1 is at this point.

It sounds to me like someone at KLO is rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. I don't see how adding one local talk show to their syndicated line-up is going to make much difference. Crenshaw has been at KTKK on and off for 20+ years, and the last time I can remember the station showing up in the ratings was during the mid 1990's. Granted, KTKK's marginal signal outside the Salt Lake metro area might be part of the problem and KLO's higher power may help the PM drive ratings, but what good does that do if listeners flip to KNRS or KSL when the second-tier syndicated programs follow Crenshaw's program?

I have a pretty much complete list of the public 12+ Arbitron/Nielsen numbers for the past 5 years and the last appearance of KTKK was Spring 2011. That may have been at the time when Arbitron was release public numbers for everyone, not just subscribers. At the time they were getting around half a point which is about the same as what KLO was getting at the time. Where things have gone since I have no idea, since either KTKK has fallen off the map or they just don't bother subscribing.

The mid 1990's was when KTKK was more or less at the peak of its popularity, so maybe that's what I was thinking of. At that time the station had Crenshaw, Joe Redburn, Bob Lesh, Donald Packard (a/k/a "Golden Delicious"), Martin Davies, et al to draw in listeners, and I don't think KTKK has ever been as popular since then. Having Danny Kramer and Mark Van Wagoner on KDYL to provide local programming in morning and afternoon drive slots when the station was still running an adult standards format from Westwood One helped that station's ratings some, so we'll see if Mills Crenshaw does the same for KLO.
