I'm frankly very excited about what Alpha will bring to this market! They are a very aggressive and original group.

From the press releases quoted at Radio Insight (http://radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/92821/alpha-media-acquires-adelante-salt-lake-city/) the impression seems to be that they will continue with their current formats. Is that how you read it too?

It's how it reads, yes, but Hispanic programming is not up Alpha's sleeves, I don't think they have any in their portfolio.

You know, it occurs to me that if Alpha did want to blow out the format on 106.1 that it might make sense to not make any changes right now. It might be better to wait a bit until it's going to be moving to 106.3 and then make the move and the format flip at the same time. Either way, there may not be any changes immediately depending on whether Alpha has anything they've already planned.
I'd be particularly curious about what they might do with 1600. It's 5KW at the top of the dial. There are other AM's with bigger signals and more coverage that are barely making a dent in the ratings, so what would attract listeners?

Your theory makes sense as far as waiting for a move... but who knows when that might happen and how long would they wait?

It's how it reads, yes, but Hispanic programming is not up Alpha's sleeves, I don't think they have any in their portfolio. They do have a few hispanic stations in Texas according to the website. We'll see how aggressive they get it could be like a buyout where the new owners take over come in and welcome everyone and tell them there jobs or formats are safe and not to worry we are not changing anything and after a few months of market surveys and low or dismal ratings and then BAM!! Guess what we're changing everything we need to compete in this market....If you look they do have some good formats that could compete with the big boys in town.

Everyone always says "no changes are planned" even when they're really planning changes. You don't want the current staff to sabotage you before you have a chance to get everything in order, right? Whether that's true in this case or not I have no idea. As of right now, nothing appears to have changed. Stay tuned.
