That Bob Morey has passed.
Having spent some time board op-ing at KSRR and in deep programming discussions with Bob, I can say that he loved radio and always gave me a lot to think about.

I guess that RELIABLE sources have now confirmed what I knew was true a while ago. Too bad for radio.

That's too bad. It's always bad when real radio people can no longer lead the way for others. Condolences to his family.
If you have any word on memorial services, will you please post it?

I guess that RELIABLE sources have now confirmed what I knew was true a while ago. Too bad for radio. Sorry about that. Even though I haven't worked for Bob for a couple of years, he'd send political e-mails to me, and I'd often reply back with my thoughts on it, and we'd ping-pong e-mails some. Back in May I stopped by to say hello and we chatted for a few hours. But it was news to me (read: If everyone on these two board knew weeks ago, why didn't anyone tell me!?!?!). I was in a bit of denial, and I had to check it out. Anyway, I looked and my last political e-mail was back in the end of September. I guess October has been flyin' by, and I hadn't noticed him not sending one in the past two or three weeks. What's odd is my grandfather also passed away the day before I got Bob's last e-mail. Kind of weird for me, personally. Anyway, we'll miss him. He programmed the best 80's music selection anywhere. Sad knowing that once 96.7 and 1400 fade away someday, I won't ever be able to hear a Bob Morey programmed station ever again.

Like I mentioned above, I had some great conversations with Bob... and what I am hearing is truly great... that many of you have had similar chances to pick his brain. I tried so hard to pitch this to him, or that and he always gave me a legit reason why it would, or wouldn't work... or how much effort was needed to get said thing done. I first walked into KSRR's offices at the old Osmond studios in 1997 looking to break into radio. Although that particular instance didn't work out, I got to work there in 2005 or 6 (can't remember exactly when) but I ran the board for some sporting events and such... He never flaunted his money, but he made it work for him. He didn't live the high life (who in radio does???), but he had the passion... I am only repeating what many have said about him, my goal is to pound the message home that there ought to be more doers and less talkers in radio. If radio is your passion, it doesn't matter what frequency, what power or where you are... do your best? Hey, no worries... the one in charge 'on the other one' just didn't like the fact that I know what I am talking about and it took him nearly a month to have it confirmed. He was on the horn the day after I posted it too trying to get the info from me through other people. I guess I ain't so black listed after all ...and we have more readers than we thought

Without delving into that nonsense again, I just want to reiterate that I appreciate any news that anyone has that they're willing to share. And if you want to make stuff up, there's even a place for that, though that's down near the bottom.
