This new channel I think it looks like some kind of KSL weather but most like The Weather Channel on comcast channel 47, what u guys think about this new channel? I think it looks better than KSL 5.3 because this channel it looks like most The Weather Channel with some news & the local on the 8s from WeatherNation

WeatherNation is an independent startup out of Denver. This was the service that DirecTV replaced The Weather Channel with during their dispute earlier this year. There seems to be more information on it than KSL's Live 5 Weather Channel, and this hosted discussions are a definite plus. The big question I have is how accurate is the forecast? This is especially important for KTVX because they push being the most accurate very heavily.
Regardless, more competition is better. I wonder if KSL will respond. Maybe KSL could put TWC on 5.3 and still allow local cable companies to insert their own ads like they do now. That would help KSL & NBC/TWC with increased ratings. The cable companies still get the same ad revenue they do now (replacing their straight TWC feed with a TWC on 5.3) and they free up bandwidth to add a different service on cable channel 47. Seems like a win all around.

I doubt that KSL would buy a WeatherStar to enable Local on the 8s.

The current generation (Intellistar) is just a PC. I don't know how much it would cost (I looked and couldn't find it), but even if it was a couple of thousand dollars KSL could make that up by running spots in the local avails. They could have it paid off in a week. I could run the numbers I came up with if anyone is interested.

I didn't realize that WeatherStar was no longer being used.
