Most the rimshots are processed at the studio, could you imagine 10k dollar box's at each site to process audio... I personally like having the processor in the rack room, it makes it nice to do any adjustments or moving around of things.. In my opinion I think the Exciter for the Salt Lake booster is having some issues if the rest of the boosters are sounding good..

How interesting indeed. I left for vacation on the 6th and came back yesterday and today I found this. It's interesting because I heard a station in Steamboat Springs doing a format just like this. I myself put my own little FM station on the air here in Evanston (it covers the downtown area) and the format I am running is the same thing.....mainly because I miss Lite-AC I guess. When I was in Colorado over vacation we were listening to KTRR (Tri 102.5)...a Fort Collins AC station and heard Delilah...I made the comment to my wife that I didn't realize she was still around. She was on "Kosy", right? It had been a while since I heard her. Anyways I guess KLO talk going "FM" didn't really help so they finally decided to try something else. Good luck to them. Sound quality here in Evanston (this is the MAIN transmitter, not a booster) is good. Jingles, air talent, decent library and rotation....not bad. They're making the effort. It's hard to find "easy" AC stations anymore and even this one has a lot of up-tempo and borderline pop stuff. AC has just kinda morphed that way unfortunately. There is hardly more than a fine line between AC and Hot AC anymore. It's almost like if you want "lite AC" then you better find an adult standards station. Anyways I guess I finally have something to listen to here in Evanston (besides KEVA which will probably be going off the air for good any day now).

I'm almost positive Delilah was on KOSY opposite FM100's "Love Songs After Dark", yes.
KLO adding the FM did absolutely zero for their ratings. In fact, the ratings are actually down a little from where they were just before adding the 103.1 signal, but that's true of talk stations all over. I've been beating the drum that they needed to flip 103.1 for like a year now. It was just too obvious.
Sorry to hear KEVA is still having problems. Feel free to start a topic on it if you'd like to share.

Thanks CA! I did want to correct myself on my above post. When I was listening yesterday I was listening on a boombox here in my office that has extreme high end so I guess I only THOUGHT it sounded okay. Nah. The others were right. Keep in mind too, I'm listening to the MAIN transmitter from Humpy Peak. When I got in the car I tuned it in and yes actually had to turn up the volume because it was lower than the other FM station I was listening to and it quieter than ALL the other FM's on the dial. And yeah it's flat. I can understand not over-processing and squashing things...I'm a big believer in nice clean sound. But this station really needs to brighten things a lot and turn up the modulation. I'm not saying compress everything and sound like 100.7 (I've always thought they actually over-modulate because they push everything so hard) but get it up there so it's at least just about as loud as everyone else and brighten it a bit so it sounds like I'm listening to FM and not FM with the treble knob turned 3/4 of the way down. OTHER THAN THAT, I do like the format a lot and really like the sound and what they're doing. The DJ's sound good, the jingles are cool, it's just really pleasant to listen to all the way around. I wish I lived in SLC...I might even ask 'em for a job....which is funny since back in 1991 I DID work for them (kinda). I board-opped for KBZN for a few months during morning drive. Between songs I'd go and poke my head in and say Hi to Len Allen who was still doing mornings on KLO. This was when everything was still in the Eccles building in downtown Ogden. But I digress Michael n Wyo

Since this sparked off a lot of discussion about audio fidelity and the format of "adult contemporary" I thought I'd add that KLCE streams online (and also sometimes has that 'tinny' sound that the bit rate being used by 103.1 has). It's programmed by former Salt Lake City air talent and program director Mike Nelson. www.klce.com/wp-content/themes/Classy97/streaming.html Their nighttime mix is very 'old fashioned' and definitely has more of the traditional sound than the current direction of AC where yes, in many cases, it seems to be indistinguishable from a similar playlist and presentation of 'hot AC' in the early 2000's.
