As part of the Federal Government furlough, the F.C.C. websites (and most databases) are offline. Not sure if this fits in the "Breaking news" section. :-) www.fcc.gov/shutdown-page.html

Probably only news to those who have been living under a rock. Doubt those people care about the FCC or their website. There are bits that are still working, but a lot of stuff does end up in a dead end. What confuses me is that there's no reason for a lot of this stuff to be unavailable. The Daily Digest works (http://www.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Digest/2013/) but the links to the files release that day don't. It's not like that information is going to go out of date or anything. Why don't they leave it up? The server is there, but it won't let you view the files. Makes no sense.

Between the 1st and the 2nd the Daily Digress, er I mean Digest went offline too. This is just plain stupid. Clearly the websites are working. The only reason to intentionally disable them that I can think of is to annoy users so they put pressure on their elected cockroaches in Washington to get their act together.
