Recording with a Comcast box

A few years back Comcast finally added a recording function to the GI/Motorola line of boxes so it would automatically change the channel when a specific show came on. I went to use it and it's gone. Has it been gone for a while, and is there any workaround that anyone knows of?

(I'm using a DCT2000 if that's any help.)

On my large bulky "old fashioned" Comcast box, the function is where you go into the guide - then when you select a program there is a R with a circle in it for recording besides just the bell symbol for a reminder (which I use a lot). That seems to work... however, this is in Seattle. I guess it's possible the boxes are programmed differently in Utah.

That's what we used to have too. It's gone. Very annoying.
