The NAB is still fighting relaxed LPFM rules. www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/106234/nab-to-fcc-careful-with-second-adjacent-lpfms-say-These guys are unbelievable. They act as though this is some completely uncharted water and nobody knows what will happen if 100 watt LPFM's start showing up two channels down from full power stations. That actual fact is that we DO know. We've got that situation RIGHT HERE in the Salt Lake market. What about K252DI on 98.3, second adjacent to 97.9 and 98.7? That's 160 watts at 1007 feet above average terrain. What about the second adjacent Humpy rimshot boosters that are 2000 watts or more? These make the 100 or even the 250 watt stations that are proposed look like nothing. The real clincher though is trying to "defend" against lower power LPFM's at 50 watts. Those are "inefficient". Folks, the emperor is buck naked. The NAB is simply trying to use made up arguments to make sure that the threat to their members from local groups (which will likely be better run than the corporate cookie cutters that most stations are now) is kept to an absolute minimum. I can't blame them for this. That's what the stations pay them for. What we really need is an advocacy group that will make sure the lawmakers and the FCC (who should already know the arguments are nonsense) realize what the big corporate broadcasters are trying to do. Is there one?
